Der Name Aloe stammt aus dem griechischen<\/span> Aloe <\/span><\/em>nach dem getrockneten Saft aus den Laubbl\u00e4ttern dieser Sukkulente,
\nwahrscheinlich abgeleitet aus dem semitischen <\/span>alloeh,<\/span><\/em> oder hebr\u00e4isch <\/span>Allal<\/span><\/em>.
\nDer Namen der Spezies ‘<\/span>marlothii’<\/span><\/em> ist nach Marloth benannt, einem bekannten Botaniker.
\nEs gibt rund 500 Arten der Gattung, von denen 135 im s\u00fcdlichen Afrika vorkommen und rund 125 allein in S\u00fcdafrika.<\/span><\/span>

Von den Eingeborenen der Ndebel D\u00f6rfer werden die Samen und Bl\u00e4tter dieser Aloen f\u00fcr eine Vielzahl von Hausmitteln verwendet, <\/span>
\nzum Beispiel wird mit den stacheligen Bl\u00e4ttern, frisch gegerbtes Leder wieder weich geb\u00fcrstet. <\/span>
\nDie Asche aus verbrannten Pflanzen als ein Zusatz zum Schnupftabak gemischt. Der Nektar der Bl\u00fcten wird gegessen. Ein Blattsud dient der Behandlung gegen Faden- und Bandw\u00fcrmern und der frische, bittere Saft eines Blattes aufgetragen auf der weiblichen Brust f\u00fchrt zum Entw\u00f6hnen des Babys.<\/span>

\nAloe marlothii geh\u00f6rt zur Sektion Pachydendron \u00fcbersetzt: pachy (griech.) dick und dendron (griech.) Baum (stammlos bis kurzst\u00e4mmig, einfach oder ver\u00e4stelt). Die Einteilung der Aloe Arten in verschiedene Sektionen wurden von A. Berger und G.W. Reynolds vorgenommen.<\/span>

\n und das bei sehr sparsamer D\u00fcngung und m\u00f6glichst geringen Wassergaben.<\/span>
\nDer Stamm misst an der dicksten Stelle bereits 50 cm. <\/span>
\nMit dieser Gr\u00f6\u00dfenentwicklung haben wir damals nicht gerechnet <\/span>
\nund beim Putzen der Fenster gibt es daher immer wieder schmerzliche Ber\u00fchrungen,
\nda sie sowohl an den R\u00e4ndern als auch auf den Bl\u00e4ttern und den Blattunterseiten harte Z\u00e4hne besitzt. <\/span>

\nDie Endh\u00f6he der Pflanze wird in der Literatur mit 2 – 6 m angegeben hoffentlich haben wir die Zwergform erwischt.<\/span>
\nDer Bl\u00fctenstand, der sich nicht jedes Jahr ab Ende Januar entwickelt ist in mehrere \u00c4ste aufgeteilt und die Ausrichtung der einzelnen Bl\u00fcten erfolgt immer nach einer Seite. Nicht jeder Ast kommt zum Aufbl\u00fchen, wenn in dieser Zeit zu wenig gegossen wird.
\nSie mag im Winter k\u00fchlere Temperaturen, sogar leichter Frost wird angeblich von ihr vertragen.
\nJe k\u00fchler die Temperatur, umso leichter kommt sie im zeitigen Fr\u00fchjahr zur Bl\u00fcte.<\/span>
\nDie Bl\u00fctenfarbe ist bei dieser Art, unterschiedlich es gibt sie in orange, r\u00f6tlich oder gelb bis gelbgr\u00fcn.<\/span>
