Lophophora williamsii var. decipiens ist eine Pflanze deren Ursprung nicht gesichert ist, abgesehen von der ersten Erw\u00e4hnung von Leon Croizat und seiner Aussage, dass diese Lophophora in der N\u00e4he von El Torreon im Bundesstaat Coahuila Mexiko gefunden wurde. Leider hat niemand jemals wieder diese Pflanze\u00a0 in seinem nat\u00fcrlichen Lebensraum gefunden.
\nDer Beschreibung entsprechende Pflanzen wachsen bei El Amparo, Coahuila die zum Formenkreis von Lophophora fricii geh\u00f6ren.

Lophophora williamsii var. decipiens der Name setzt sich zusammen aus Lophophora das im lateinischen soviel wie Federbuschtr\u00e4ger hei\u00dft, wegen der Wollb\u00fcschel im Scheitel der Pflanzen. Auch der gebr\u00e4uchliche Name Peyotel-Kaktus bezieht sich auf diese Wolle. Als die Pflanze 1560 erstmalig von Bernardino de Sahag\u00fan beschrieben wurde, hat er sie \u201ePeiotl\u201c genannt. Den heute am meisten gebrauchten Namen \u201ePeyote\u201c bzw. \u201ePeyotl\u201c kann man als Modifikationen dieses alten Wortes bezeichnen. \u201ePeyote\u201c soll vom Nahuatlwort der Aztekensprache \u201ePeyutl\u201c abstammen und bedeutet \u201eSeidenkokon\u201c. Das spielt wohl auf die zahlreichen wei\u00dfen H\u00e4rchen der Peyotepflanze an. Im getrockneten Zustand sieht die Pflanze so aus, als w\u00e4re sie in einen Kokon eingesponnen. F\u00fcr diese These spricht wohl, da\u00df auch andere haarige Pflanzen, es m\u00fcssen nicht einmal Kakteen sein, mit dem Namen \u201ePeyote\u201c bezeichnet werden. Williamsii nach dem Engl\u00e4nder C. H. Williams und deciepiens steht f\u00fcr t\u00e4uschend.<\/p>\n

Die hier abgebildete Pflanze hat eine extrem dunkle Bl\u00fcte, es gibt sie aber auch in hellerem rosa.<\/p>\n

Der Peyotekaktus,entwickelt eine dicke, fleischige Pfahlwurzel und einen flachkugeligen, 5-8 cm hohen sowie 8-10 cm breiten K\u00f6rper, der in der Natur meist teilweise von Substrat bedeckt ist. An seiner Basis k\u00f6nnen sich zahlreiche Seitensprosse bilden. Diese auch als Rauschgiftkaktus bekannte Spezies enth\u00e4lt das halluzinogene Alkaloid Meskalin und wurde von den mexikanischen Ureinwohnern bei religi\u00f6sen Riten zur Erzeugung von Rauschzust\u00e4nden verwendet. Entnahmen der Pflanze in der Natur sind in Mexiko strengstens verboten. Aber da sich die Pflanzen leicht aus Samen vermehren lassen ist eine Standortpl\u00fcnderung auch total unn\u00f6tig.<\/p>\n

Pflege recht einfach, wie immer bei Kakteen lockeres Substrat hier ist auch wieder etwas Lehmzusatz von Vorteil. Sonniger Standort w\u00e4hrend der Wachstumszeit reichlich gie\u00dfen.
